The Bar Steward at Monarch Casino Resort Spa plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the bar and delivering outstanding customer service. The following is a detailed description of the Bar Steward's responsibilities and expectations:
Cleanliness and Maintenance: The Bar Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including cleaning glassware, countertops, and equipment, and ensuring that all bar sections are tidy and presentable.
Customer Interaction: Providing exceptional service to guests by taking drink orders accurately, serving beverages, and addressing any requests or concerns to enhance their experience
Inventory Management: Assisting in monitoring and managing the inventory of bar supplies, including beverages, garnishes, and other necessary items, to ensure that they are adequately stocked and available during shifts.
Collaboration: Working closely with bartenders, waitstaff, and other team members to ensure a seamless service experience, especially during busy periods, which includes efficiently coordinating orders and requests
Cash Handling: Handling transactions, including processing payments, managing the cash register, and ensuring accurate cash flow and reporting.
Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering to all health and safety regulations, particularly those related to food and beverage service, and ensuring a safe environment for both guests and staff.
Communication Skills: Utilizing excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members, contributing to a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, although relevant experience in the hospitality industry may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, such as a bar steward, busser, or in a customer service position within the hospitality or restaurant industry is highly desirable
Knowledge of Food Safety: A basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices is important to maintain health standards in the bar environment
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are essential for interacting effectively with guests and collaborating with team members
Physical Stamina: The ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy items throughout the duration of the shift is required, as the role can be physically demanding
Teamwork: A cooperative attitude and the ability to work well within a team are crucial for maintaining a smooth and efficient service operation
Cash Handling Skills: Basic math skills and experience with cash handling are necessary to accurately manage transactions
